Project Overview

Developed and drove the mining company’s first comprehensive ESG strategy and sustainability program. This initiative focused on advancing social responsibility, enhancing ESG data management, driving net zero and decarbonisation efforts, and improving ESG investor relations and communications.

Scope of Work

Social Responsibility Strategy

Developed and executed strategies encompassing Indigenous Relations, Cultural Heritage, Community Investment, Modern Slavery, and Human Rights.

ESG Strategy Development

Aligned the company’s ESG strategy with global frameworks, including GRI, TCFD, SDGs, and UNGC. Completed the company’s first formal Materiality Assessment and wrote the FY21 and FY22 Sustainability Reports, significantly improving transparency and stakeholder engagement.

Net Zero & Decarbonisation

Developed Net Zero targets and led climate scenario analysis, energy audits, and decarbonisation strategy development, including site-specific roadmaps.

ESG Data Management

Led a data-driven project that automated and digitised ESG data across multiple functions, reducing data collection efforts by over 300 hours annually and increasing data-driven insights for decision-making.

Drove notable increases in ESG scores across major indices, including S&P Global, MSCI, ISS, and Sustainalytics. The company became one of three gold companies listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Australia and ranked among the ‘Top 20’ ASX 150 companies for Sustainability Reporting in 2021.

Social Responsibility Leadership

Achieved a Social Licence to Operate score of 4.0 out of 5.0, reflecting high approval for community and First Nations engagement. Successfully implemented Modern Slavery programs and maintained 100% compliance with Social Responsibility Standards.
